Happy Holidays! As 2013 comes to an end, we not only reflect
on the people and events that have touched our lives, we look forward to the new
adventures that await us this coming year.
Some of us have been around a little longer than we care to admit…some
of us remember things that the current generation has never even heard of. Dormont Appliance opened in 1949 when one of the hottest items was a wringer washer!
What is a wringer washer you
young people ask? It is an old style washing machine that
requires a lot more work than an automatic washing machine…basically it was a
basin that would be filled with water and soap, and a roller that looked sort
of like a big pasta machine that clothes were pressed through to remove excess

Now that we are welcoming 2014,
we are excited to see how the appliance industry will improve. Some of us may argue that the older ways
were better. Appliances lasted
longer. But there are many perks to the
new technology. GE has imagined the
technological enhancements that will change the way we live and how our homes
will look a dozen years from now. How
about an in-the-sink dishwashing system that not only washes your dishes, it
cleans your produce until there are no traces of dirt or bacteria! Well, it may not be something we will see in
2014, but it is definitely one of the concepts being developed for future
